Jim has over seventeen years experience in software development, in the financial services, communications, 3D graphics and television broadcast equipment industries. He has worked on a wide variety of systems, including embedded devices, database applications, Windows GUI systems and UNIX systems.

He is a respected authority on the C++ language, having co-authored a monthly column in the C/C++ Users Journal with Herb Sutter. The original articles are archived both at Herb's web site, and at the Dr. Dobb's Journal website.

Jim has been involved with the CVS development and support community for several years. He is now an official maintainer of CVS.
